The Flood
The Nephellim
Genesis 6:1-7
1 It was when the sons of men began to multiply upon the face of earth and daughters had been born to them, 2 the sons of God saw the daughters of men who were beautiful. They took them as wives from all they chose for themselves. 3 Then the Lord said, “My spirit will not dwell with man forever, because he is flesh; his days will be one hundred twenty years.” 4 The heroes were on earth in those days, and afterwards as well, because the sons of God entered the daughters of men. They bore them heroes of old, heroes of renown. 5 The Lord saw evil multiplied on earth and every inclination of his heart’s thought was evil every day. 6 The Lord regretted he had made Adam on earth and it grieved him to his heart. 7 Then the Lord said, “I shall blot out the children of men I have created from the face of earth: from the children of men to the livestock, creeper, and bird of heaven, because I regret I made them.”

The Call of Noah
Genesis 6:8-16
8 Noah had found mercy in the Lord’s eyes. 9 These are the descendants of Noah (Noah was a righteous man and blameless in his generation, and Noah was beautiful to God): 10 Noah bore three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. 11 The earth desolated before God, and the earth filled with iniquity. 12 God saw the earth degraded because all flesh degraded his way on earth. 13 God said to Noah, “It is the reckoning of all flesh before me because the earth filled with iniquity by them. Behold, I am going to degrade them with the earth. 14 Make yourself an ark of juniper wood. Make stories for the ark and smear it from the outside to the inside with bitumen. 15 So make it three hundred cubits for its length, fifty cubits for its width, and thirty cubits for its height. 16 Make windows for the ark, and finish it a cubit on top. Make the door of the ark on its side, and make it have a lower, second, and third story.

The Warning of the Flood
Genesis 6:17-21
17 I, behold, am going to bring a deluge of water on the earth to degrade all flesh with life’s breath beneath the heavens, and all that is on earth will end. 18 Then I shall set my covenant with you, and you will enter in the ark—you and your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you. 19 Bring in the ark from every living thing, from all flesh, two by two so they survive with you; they shall be both males and females. 20 And from the birds according to its kind, livestock according to its kind, and creeper of the earth according to their kinds, so two by two of all will come in with you to live. 21 And as for you, take for yourself from all the food eaten. Store it with you, and it will be the food for you and them.” 22 Noah did all God commanded; he did so.

The Flood
Genesis 7:17-24
17 The deluge was forty days on earth. The waters multiplied and carried the ark, and it rose from the earth. 18 The waters strengthened and well multiplied on the earth, and the ark was floating on the face of the waters. 19 The waters had strengthened so much on the earth, all the high mountains under all the heavens were covered. 20 The waters strengthened fifteen cubits high, and the high mountains were covered. 21 All flesh creeping on the earth came to an end: the birds, the livestock, animals, every creeper creeping on the earth, and all the children of men; 22 all with the spirit’s breath of life in its face from all the dry land had died. 23 He wiped out all that stood upon the face of earth, from sons of men unto the livestock and creepers and to birds of heaven; they were wiped out from the earth. Noah remained and those with him in the ark. 24 The waters strengthed on the earth for one hundred fifty days.

The Abatement of the Waters
Genesis 8:1-10
1 Then God remembered Noah, every animal, all livestock, and all the birds with him in the ark. God passed a wind over the earth, and the waters rested. 2 Then the springs of the abyss and founts of the sky closed, and the sky’s rains were restrained. 3 The waters turned away from earth going back and forth. Then the waters lessened after the one hundred fifty days. 4 The ark had rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day, on the mountains of the Kurds. The waters kept on lessening until the tenth month. 5 On the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the mountaintops were seen. 6 It was after forty days, Noah had opened the ark’s window he made 7 and sent the raven. It indeed went out and did not return until the waters dried up from the face of earth. 8 He sent the dove from him to see whether the waters had abated from the face of earth. 9 The dove did not find rest for the sole of its foot. 10 Then it returned to him back to the ark because the waters were still on the face of all the earth. He stretched out his hand, took it, and brought it back into the ark with him.

The Drying of the Land
Genesis 8:11-14
11 He stayed another seven days and sent the dove from the ark, and the dove came to him in the evening. There an olive leaf was held in its mouth, and Noah knew the waters abated from the earth. 12 He stayed another seven days and sent the dove, and it did not again return to him. 13 On the six hundred first year, on the first of the first month, the waters dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the cover of the ark and looked, and behold, the face of earth dried. 14 And on the second month, the twenty-seventh day, the earth dried.

Exiting the Ark
Genesis 8:15-19
15 God spoke with Noah and said to him, 16 “Go out of the ark: you and your wife, your sons and your sons’ wives with you. 17 Bring out with you every animal with you from all flesh, birds, livestock, and every creeper creeping on the earth. They will beget on earth, bear fruit, and multiply on earth.” 18 Then Noah went, his sons, his wife and his sons’ wives with him. 19 Each animal, all the livestock, every bird, and every creeper on the earth according to their family had gone out of the ark.

The Sacrifice of Noah
Genesis 8:20-22
20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord. He took from each clean animal and from each clean bird and brought up a burnt offering on the altar. The Lord smelled the savory smell, the smell of calm. 21 The Lord said in His heart, “I never shall again curse earth because of the children of men, because the inclination of the human heart is evil from his youth, and I never again shall strike all the living as I did. 22 Therefore, all the days of earth, the seed and harvest, frost and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall never cease.”

God's Covenant with Noah
Genesis 9:1-11
1 God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, “Bear fruit, multiply, and fill the earth. 2 May fear and trembling of you be on every animal of earth, on every bird of heaven, on every creeper of the earth, and every fish of the sea; into your hands they shall be betrayed. 3 May every living creeper for you be food, as I have given you all the vegetable of grass. 4 Only flesh with blood in itself you shall not eat. 5 But the blood of yourselves I shall requite: from the hand of every animal I will requite it; from every human hand, from every hand of man and his brother, I shall requite the soul of man. 6 Whoever spills man’s blood, by man his blood shall spill because in God’s image man was made. 7 You all, bear fruit and multiply. Beget on earth and multiply in it.” 8 God said to Noah and his sons with him, 9 “I, behold, am setting my covenant with you, with all of your seed after you, 10 with every living soul with all of you, with fowl, with livestock, with every animal of earth with you, all that comes out of the ark, and with every animal of earth. 11 I will set my covenant with all of you and never again end all flesh by the waters of the flood; there shall not again be a flood to degrade the earth.”

The Sign of the Covenant
Genesis 9:12-17
12 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I am giving, between me and all of you: among every living soul with you all for generations evermore. 13 I have given in clouds, and it will be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Should I bring clouds over earth and should you see the bow within the clouds, 15 I shall recall my covenant between me and you all: among every living soul with you all and among all flesh. And the waters of the deluge never again will degrade all flesh. 16 My bow will be in clouds, and I shall see it as a remembrance of my everlasting covenant between God and every living soul of all the flesh on earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I set between me and all flesh on the earth.”

Noah's Drunkenness
Genesis 9:18-22
18 The sons of Noah who went from the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan. 19 These three were sons of Noah, and from these they spread throughout all the earth. 20 Noah began to work the earth and plant a vineyard. 21 He drank from his wine, got drunk, and revealed himself in his tent. 22 Then Ham, the father of Canaan, looked on his father’s nakedness and showed his two brothers.

The Covering of Noah
Genesis 9:23
23 Then Shem and Japheth took a mantle, lifted it on both their shoulders, walked backward, and covered up their father’s nakedness. Their faces turned behind, they did not see their father’s nakedness.

The Curse of Canaan
Genesis 9:24-29
24 Then Noah woke up from his wine and knew all his youngest son did to him. 25 Then he said, “Cursed is Canaan; may he be the slave of slaves to his brothers.” 26 He said, “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Shem. Canaan will be a slave to them. 27 God will stretch Japheth and dwell in the tent of Shem, and Canaan will be a slave to them.” 28 The life of Noah following the deluge was three hundred fifty years. 29 All the days of Noah were nine hundred fifty years, then he died.

The Tower of Babel
Genesis 11:1-5
1 The whole earth was of one tongue and of one speech. 2 It was when they took up eastward, they found a plain in Shinar’s land and settled there. 3 Then they said one to another, “Come, let us cast bricks and burn them in a fire.” Then they had brick for stone and plaster for cement. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the sky. Let us make a name for ourselves; otherwise we shall be scattered on the face of all the earth.” 5 Then the Lord came down to see the village and the tower the sons of men were building.

The Destruction of the Tower
Genesis 11:6-9
6 Then the Lord said, “Behold one people. They all have one tongue and so they thought to do. Henceforth they will not fall short of all they thought to do. 7 Come, let us go down, and allot the tongues there, so they will not hear each other’s tongue.” 8 Then the Lord scattered them from there upon the face of earth, and they quit building the village. 9 For this it was named Babel, because the Lord there baffled tongues of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them throughout the face of all the earth.
