Isaac
Birth of Isaac
Genesis 21:1-10
1 The Lord had remembered Sarah as he said, and the Lord did to Sarah as he spoke. 2 Then Sarah conceived and bore to Abraham a son for his old age at the time that God spoke with him. 3 Abraham named his son, who was born to him and whom Sarah bore, Isaac. 4 Abraham circumcised Isaac, his son, at eight-days-old, as God commanded him. 5 Abraham was a hundred years old when Isaac, his son, was born to him. 6 Sarah said, “God has made a great joy for me today; all who hear it will rejoice for me.” 7 She said, “Whoever said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? So I have borne to him a son for his old age.” 8 The boy grew and was weaned. Then Abraham made a great feast on the day Isaac was weaned. 9 Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she bore by Abraham, at play. 10 Then she said to Abraham, “Send forth this maidservant and her son because this maidservant’s son shall not inherit with my son Isaac.”

Birth of Isaac
Genesis 21:1-10
14 Abraham rose early in the morning, took bread and a skin of water, gave them to Hagar, put them upon her shoulder and the boy, and sent her off. She went and wandered in the wilderness of Beer-sheba. 15 The water from the skin ran out, and she cast the boy beneath one of the shrubs, 16 went, sat down afar, and distanced herself a bowshot away because she said, “I shall not see the boy’s death.” She sat afar, raised her voice, and wept. 17 God heard the boy’s voice, and God’s angel called Hagar from Heaven and said to her, “What is the matter with you, Hagar? Do not fear, for God has heard the boy’s voice where he is. 18 Rise, lift up the boy, and grasp him with your hand because I will make him a great people.” 19 Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. She went, filled the skin with water, and gave drink to the boy. 20 God was with the boy. He grew, settled in the wilderness of Paran, and learnt the bow in the wilderness of Paran.

Journey to Moriah
Genesis 22:1-8
1 After these events, God had tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.” 2 He said to him, “Take your son, your only one whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Amorites. Bring him up there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I shall tell you.” 3 Then Abraham rose early in the morning, mounted on his donkey, and took two of his young men with him and Isaac, his son. He split the wood for the burnt offering, rose, and went to the place God told him. 4 On the third day Abraham raised up his eyes and saw that place from afar. 5 He said to his young men, ‘Stay here with the donkey. The boy and I shall go until there, worship, and return to you.” 6 Abraham took up the wood for the burnt offering, set it on Isaac, his son, and took in his hand the fire and knife, and the two of them walked as one. 7 Isaac spoke to Abraham, his father, and said, “Father!” He said, “Here I am, my son.” He said to him, “Here is the fire and wood. Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” 8 Abraham said, “God shall see to the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them walked as one.

Sacrifice of Isaac
Genesis 22:9-12
9 They came to the place God told him, and Abraham built there an altar and arranged the wood. He bound Isaac, his son, and set him on the altar on top of the wood. 10 Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to sacrifice his son. 11 Then the angel of the Lord called out to him from Heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.” 12 He said, “Do not stretch your hand upon the boy and do nothing to him, for now you made known you fear God and you have not withheld your son, your only one, from me.”

Blessing on Abraham
Genesis 22:13-18
13 Abraham raised his eyes and saw here was one ram caught in the thicket by its horns. Abraham went, took the ram, and brought it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 Abraham called the name of that place “The Lord shall see,” so it is said today, “On this mountain, the Lord shall see.” 15 The angel of the Lord called Abraham a second time from Heaven and said, 16 “By me I swore, says the Lord: ‘Since you did this deed and did not withhold your son, your only one, from me, 17 I shall indeed bless you. I will indeed increase your offspring like the sky’s stars and like the sand on the shore. Your offspring will inherit the lands of their enemies, 18 and all the peoples of the earth will be blessed by your offspring since you heard my voice.’”

Abraham’s Commission of Eliezer
Genesis 24:2-9
2 Abraham called his oldest servant, chief of his house, in charge of all he had, and said to him, “Put your hand under my waist, 3 and I shall adjure you by the Lord, the God of Heaven and the God of earth, to not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I reside. 4 Rather go to my land and kindred and take a wife for my son Isaac.” 5 The servant said to him, “And if the woman does not want to follow me into this land, shall I indeed return your son into the land from which you went?” 6 Abraham said to him, “Make sure you return my son from there. 7 The Lord, the God of Heaven, who led me from there, from the house of my father, and from the land of my kinsmen, who spoke to me, and who made a covenant with me: ‘To your offspring I shall give this land’— may He send his angel in front of you. You will take a wife for my son from there. 8 If the woman will not be persuaded to come with you, be vindicated from this oath of mine. Only do not return my son back there.” 9 The servant put his hand beneath the waist of Abraham, his master, and he swore to him this statement.

Eliezer's Prayer
Genesis 24:10-14
10 The servant led ten camels from the camels of his master and went, all of his master’s goods in his hand. He set out to Aram-nahrin to the village of Nahor. 11 He made his camels kneel outside the village by the well of water at evening time, the time women go out filling water. 12 He prayed and said, “Lord, God of my master Abraham, prepare before me today and do kindness with my master Abraham. 13 Look, I am standing by the well of water, and the daughters of the citizens are going out to fill water. 14 Let the girl to whom I say, ‘Let down for me your jar so I may drink,’ and who will say to me, ‘Drink. Also I give drink to your camels,’ may she be the one whom you prepared for your servant Isaac. By this I shall know you do goodness and truth with my master.”

Testing of Rebekah
Genesis 24:15-21
15 He had not yet finished speaking, and here Rebekah went out, who was born to Bethuel the son of Milcah, wife of Nahor, brother of Abraham, a jar upon her shoulder. 16 The girl was very beautiful in appearance, a virgin, whom no man had known. She went down to the well, filled her jar, and went up. 17 The servant ran to meet her and said to her, “Let me drink a little water from your jar.” 18 She said to him, “Drink, my lord,” and hurried, lowered the jar upon her hand, and gave him drink. 19 She finished giving him drink and said, “Also, I will fill your camels until they finish drinking.” 20 She hurried and shook off her jar by the trough, ran again to the well to fill, and filled for all his camels. 21 The man was drinking, testing her, and lingering to know if the Lord made his way successful or not.

Marriage of Isaac and Rebekah
Genesis 24:61-67
61 Rebekah and her maiden rose up, mounted a camel, and followed the man. The servant took Rebekah and went. 62 Isaac had come from Well Where the Living Has Seen Me and was settling in the land of the south. 63 Isaac left to walk the field at evening time, raised his eyes, and saw here the camels coming. 64 Rebekah raised her eyes, saw Isaac, and dismounted the camel. 65 She said to the servant, “Who is this man coming in the field to meet us?” The servant said, “He is my master.” She took her bridal veil and covered herself. 66 The servant told Isaac all of the deeds he did. 67 Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent and took Rebekah, and she was his wife. He loved her, and Isaac was comforted after his mother.

Death of Abraham
Genesis 25:7-11
7 These were the days’ years’ of Abraham’s life: he lived one hundred seventy-five years. 8 Abraham fell ill and died at a good old age. He grew old, sated with his days, and was gathered to his people. 9 His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him inside the double cave in the field of Ephron, son of Zohar the Hittite, before Mamre, 10 the field Abraham bought from the Hittites as burial inheritance. There Abraham was buried along with his wife Sarah. 11 And after Abraham’s death, God had blessed his son Isaac.
