1 Samuel 28:3-25

3 Samuel had died, and all Israel mourned for him and buried him in Ramah in his tomb. Saul had expelled the mediums and sages from the land. 4 The Philistines gathered, came, and encamped at Shekem. Saul gathered all Israel, and they encamped at Gilboa. 5 Saul saw the camp of the Philistines, feared, and his heart trembled greatly. 6 He asked the Lord, and he did not answer him, not by dreams, by fire, or by prophets. 7 Saul said to his servants, “Seek for me a woman who brings up spirits. I shall go to her and ask her.” His servants said to him, “Here is a woman who brings up spirits in Endor.” 8 Saul stripped his garments, dressed in other garments, and went there along with two men. They came to the woman by night, and Saul said to her, “Divine me a spirit, and bring me up the one I say to you.” 9 The woman said to him, “Look, you do know what Saul has done to expel the mediums and sages from the land. Why do you hunt my life to kill me?” 10 Saul swore to her by the Lord and said, “As the Lord lives, you will have no crime in this matter.” 11 The woman said, “Whom shall I bring up for you?” He said, “Bring me up Samuel.” 12 The woman saw Samuel, wailed in a loud voice, and said to Saul, “What is this you did to me? Why did you deceive me? You are Saul!” 13 The king said to her, “Do not fear. What do you see?” The woman said to Saul, “I have seen gods coming up from the ground.” 14 He said to her, “What is his appearance?” She said, “An old man is coming up and wrapped in priest robe.” Saul knew that it was Samuel, bowed his face to the ground, and worshipped. 15 Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” Saul said, “I am in great distress. The Philistines are battling with me, and God crossed from me and answers me no more, neither through prophets nor by dreams. I sought to call you that you tell me what I shall do.” 16 Samuel said to Saul, “Why then do you ask me since the Lord has crossed from you and is with your friend? 17 The Lord did to you just as he said through me. He tore the kingdom from your hand and gave it to your friend, David. 18 For not hearing the voice of the Lord and not doing his rage’s wrath against Amalek, for this the Lord has done this matter to you today. 19 The Lord will also betray Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons are with me. The Lord shall also betray the camp of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.” 20 Saul rushed and fell to his face on the ground. He feared greatly because of the words of Samuel. He also had no strength because he had not eaten all that day and all night. 21 The woman came to Saul, saw he greatly feared, and said to him, “Look, your handmaid heard your voice. I took my life in my hands and heard the words you said to me. 22 Now you also hear the voice of your handmaid. I will place a morsel of bread before you. Eat and have strength because you are going your way.” 23 He did not want to and said to her, “I am not eating.” His servants, together with the woman, begged him. He heard their words, rose from the ground, and sat on the bed. 24 The woman had a fatted calf in her house, rushed to slaughter it, took flour, kneaded it, and baked unleavened cakes. 25 She put them before Saul and his servants, and they ate, rose, and walked that night.

ג ܘܰܫܡܘܼܐܷܝܠ ܡܝܼܬ̣ ܘܐܰܪܩܷܕ݂ܘ ܥܠܳܘܗܝ ܟܠܷܗ ܝܼܣܪܳܝܷܠ ܘܰܩܒ̣ܪܘܼܗܝ ܒܪܳܡܬܳܐ ܒܩܰܒ̣ܪܷܗ. ܘܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܐܰܥܒܰܪ ܙܰܟ̇ܘܼܪܷ̈ܐ ܘܝܰܕܘܼܥܷ̈ܐ ܡ̣ܢ ܐܰܪܥܳܐ. ד ܘܐܷܬ̣ܟܰܢܰܫܘ ܦܠܷܫ̈ܬܳܝܷܐ ܘܐܷܬ̣ܳܘ ܫܪܳܘ ܒܰܫܟܷܝܡ. ܘܟܰܢܷܫ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܠܟ݂ܠܷܗ ܝܼܣܪܳܝܷܠ ܘܰܫܪܳܘ ܒܓܰܠܓܳܠܳܐ. ה ܘܰܚܙܳܐ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܠܡܫܪܝܼܬ̣ܳܐ ܕܰܦܠܷܫ̈ܬܳܝܷܐ ܘܰܕ݂ܚܷܠ ܘܙܳܥ ܠܷܒܷܗ ܛܳܒ̣. ו ܘܰܫܐܷܠ ܒܡܳܪܝܳܐ ܘܠܳܐ ܥܢܳܝܗܝ ܘܐܳܦ ܒܚܷܠܡܳܐ ܘܐܳܦ ܒܢܘܼܪܳܐ ܘܐܳܦ ܒܰܢܒ̣̈ܝܷܐ. ז ܘܐܷܡܰܪ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܠܥܰܒ̣̈ܕܳܘܗܝ ܒܥܳܘ ܠܝܼ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ܬ̣ܳܐ ܕܡܰܣܩܳܐ ܙܰܟ̇ܘܼܪܷ̈ܐ ܘܐܷܙܰܠ ܠܘܳܬ̣ܳܗ̇ ܘܐܷܫܐܰܠ ܒܳܗ̇. ܐܳܡܪܝܼܢ ܠܷܗ ܥܰܒ̣ܕܳܘ̈ܗܝ ܗܳܐ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ܬ̣ܳܐ ܕܡܰܣܩܳܐ ܙܰܟ̇ܘܼܪܷ̈ܐ ܒܥܰܕ݂ܘܳܥܝܼܪ. ח ܘܐܷܫܬܰܠܰܚ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܢܰܚܬܳܘ̈ܗܝ ܘܰܠܒܷܫ ܢܰܚ̈ܬܷܐ ܐ̱ܚܪ̈ܳܢܷܐ ܘܐܷܙܰܠ ܗ̤ܘ ܘܰܬ̣ܪܷܝܢ ܓܰܒ̣ܪ̈ܝܼܢ ܥܰܡܷܗ ܘܐܷܬ̣ܳܘ ܠܘܳܬ̣ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ܬ̣ܳܐ ܒܠܷܠܝܳܐ. ܘܐܷܡܰܪ ܠܳܗ̇ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܩܨܘܿܡܝ ܠܝܼ ܒܙܰܟ̇ܘܼܪܳܐ ܘܐܰܣܷܩܝ ܠܝܼ ܠܡ̇ܢ ܕܐܷܡܰܪ ܠܷܟ݂ܝ. ט ܘܐܷܡܰܪܰܬ̤ ܠܷܗ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ܬ̣ܳܐ ܗܳܐ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ ܝܳܕܰܥ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ ܡܷܕܷܡ ܕܰܥܒܰܕ݂ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܕܐܰܥܒܰܪ ܙܰܟ̇ܘܼܪܷ̈ܐ ܘܝܰܕܘܼܥܷ̈ܐ ܡ̣ܢ ܐܰܪܥܳܐ ܠܡܳܢܳܐ ܡܨܰܝܷܕ݂ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ ܢܰܦ̮ܫܝ ܠܰܡܡܳܬ̣ܘܼܬܰܢܝ. אי ܘܝܼܡܳܐ ܠܳܗ̇ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܒܡܳܪܝܳܐ ܘܐܷܡܰܪ ܚܰܝ ܗ̱ܘ̣ ܡܳܪܝܳܐ ܕܠܳܐ ܢܷܗܘܷܐ ܠܷܟ݂ܝ ܣܘܼܪܚܳܢ ܒܦܷܬ̣ܓ̣ܳܡܳܐ ܗܳܢܳܐ. אא ܘܐܷܡܪܰܬ̤ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ܬ̣ܳܐ ܠܡ̇ܢ ܐܰܣܷܩ ܠܳܟ݂ ܘܐܷܡܰܪ ܠܰܫܡܘܼܐܷܝܠ ܐܰܣܷܩܝ ܠܝܼ. אב ܘܰܚܙܳܬܷܗ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ܬ̣ܳܐ ܠܰܫܡܘܼܐܷܝܠ ܘܐܰܝܠܰܬ̤ ܒܩܳܠܳܐ ܪܳܡܳܐ ܘܐܷܡܪܰܬ̤ ܠܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܡܢܳܘ ܗܳܢܳܐ ܕܰܥܒܰܕܬ̇ ܠܝܼ ܠܡܳܢܳܐ ܢܟܰܠܬܳܢܝ ܘܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇. אג ܘܐܷܡܰܪ ܠܳܗ̇ ܡܰܠܟܳܐ ܠܳܐ ܬܷܕ݂ܚ̱ܠܝܼܢ ܡܳܢܳܐ ܚܙܰܝܬ̇ܝ ܘܐܷܡܪܰܬ̤ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ܬ̣ܳܐ ܠܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܐܰܠܳܗܷ̈ܐ ܚܙܷܝܬ̣ ܕܣܳܠܩܝܼܢ ܡ̣ܢ ܐܰܪܥܳܐ. אד ܘܐܷܡܰܪ ܠܳܗ̇ ܡܳܢܳܘ ܚܷܙܘܷܗ ܐܷܡܪܰܬ̤ ܠܷܗ ܓܰܒ̣ܪܳܐ ܣܳܒ̣ܳܐ ܣܳܠܷܩ ܘܰܡܥܰܛܰܦ ܒܰܦܪܝܼܣܳܐ. ܘܝܼܕܰܥ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܕܰܫܡܘܼܐܷܝܠ ܗ̱ܘ̣ ܘܰܢܦܰܠ ܥܰܠ ܐܰܦܳܘ̈ܗܝ ܥܰܠ ܐܰܪܥܳܐ ܘܰܣܓܷܕ݂. אה ܘܐܷܡܰܪ ܫܡܘܼܐܷܝܠ ܠܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܠܡܳܢܳܐ ܐܰܙܝܼܥܬܳܢܝ ܠܡܰܣܳܩܘܼܬܰܢܝ. ܘܐܷܡܰܪ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܥܳܩܰܬ̤ ܠܝܼ ܛܳܒ̣ ܘܰܦܠܷܫ̈ܬܳܝܷܐ ܡܷܬ̣ܟܰܬ̇ܫܝܼܢ ܥܰܡܝ ܘܐܰܠܳܗܳܐ ܥܒܰܪ ܡܷܢܝ ܘܠܳܐ ܥܢܳܢܝ ܬܘܼܒ̣ ܘܐܳܦ ܒܐܝܼܕ݂ܳܐ ܕܰܢܒ̣̈ܝܷܐ ܘܐܳܦ ܒܚܷܠܡܳܐ ܒܥܷܝܬ̣. ܘܰܩܪܷܝܬ̣ܳܟ݂ ܕܰܬ̣ܚܳܘܷܝܢܝ ܡܳܢܳܐ ܐܷܥܒܷ̇ܕ݂. או ܘܐܷܡܰܪ ܫܡܘܼܐܷܝܠ ܠܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܡܳܢܳܐ ܡܫܐܰܐܷܠ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ ܠܝܼ ܕܡܳܪܝܳܐ ܥܒܰܪ ܠܷܗ ܡܷܢܳܟ݂ ܘܰܗܘ̤ܳܐ ܥܰܡ ܚܰܒ̣ܪܳܟ݂. אז ܘܰܥܒܰܕ݂ ܠܷܗ ܡܳܪܝܳܐ ܐܰܝܟܰܢܳܐ ܕܐܷܡܰܪ ܒܐܝܼܕ݂ܝ ܘܰܨܪܳܐ ܡܰܠܟ̇ܘܼܬ̣ܳܐ ܡ̣ܢ ܐܝܼܕ݂ܳܟ݂ ܘܝܰܗ̱ܒܳܗ̇ ܠܚܰܒ̣ܪܳܟ݂ ܕܳܘܝܼܕ݂. אח ܥܰܠ ܕܠܳܐ ܫܡܰܥܬ̇ ܒܩܳܠܷܗ ܕܡܳܪܝܳܐ ܘܠܳܐ ܥܒܰܕܬ̇ ܚܷܡܬ̣ܳܐ ܕܪܘܼܓ̣ܙܷܗ ܒܰܥܡܳܠܷܝܩ. ܡܷܛܠ ܗܳܢܳܐ ܦܷܬ̣ܓ̣ܳܡܳܐ ܥܒܰܕ݂ ܠܳܟ݂ ܡܳܪܝܳܐ ܝܳܘܡܳܢܳܐ. אט ܘܢܰܫܠܷܡ ܡܳܪܝܳܐ ܐܳܦ ܝܼܣܪܳܝܷܠ ܥܰܡܳܟ݂ ܒܐܝܼܕ݂ܳܐ ܕܰܦܠܷܫ̈ܬܳܝܷܐ ܘܰܡܚܳܪ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ ܘܰܒ̣ܢܰܝ̈ܟ ܠܘܳܬ̣. ܘܐܳܦ ܠܡܰܫܪܝܼܬ̣ܳܐ ܕܝܼܣܪܳܝܷܠ ܢܰܫ̱ܠܡܝܼܗ̇ ܡܳܪܝܳܐ ܒܐܝܼܕ݂ܳܐ ܕܰܦܠܷܫ̈ܬܳܝܷܐ. בי ܘܐܷܣܬ̇ܪܗܰܒ̣ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܘܰܢܦܰܠ ܥܰܠ ܐܰܦܳܘ̈ܗܝ ܥܰܠ ܐܰܪܥܳܐ ܘܰܕ݂ܚܷܠ ܛܳܒ̣ ܡ̣ܢ ܡܷܠܳܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܰܫܡܘܼܐܷܠ ܘܐܳܦ ܚܰܝܠܳܐ ܠܰܝܬ̇ ܗ̱ܘ̣ܳܐ ܒܷܗ ܡܷܛܠ ܕܟ݂ܠܷܗ ܐܝܼܡܳܡܳܐ ܗܳܘ̇ ܘܟ݂ܠܷܗ ܠܷܠܝܳܐ ܠܳܐ ܐܷܟܰܠ ܗ̱ܘ̣ܳܐ ܠܰܚܡܳܐ. בא ܘܐܷܬ̣ܳܬ̤ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ܬ̣ܳܐ ܠܘܳܬ̣ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܘܰܚܙܳܬ̤ ܕܰܕ݂ܚܷܠ ܛܳܒ̣ ܘܐܷܡܪܰܬ̤ ܠܷܗ ܗܳܐ ܫܷܡܥܰܬ̤ ܐܰܡܬ̣ܳܟ݂ ܠܩܳܠܳܟ݂ ܘܣܳܡܷܬ̣ ܢܰܦ̮ܫܝ ܒܐܝܼܕܰܝ̈ܟ ܘܫܷܡ̇ܥܷܬ̣ ܡܷܠܰܝ̈ܟ ܕܐܷܡܰܪܬ̇ ܠܝܼ. בב ܗܳܫܳܐ ܫܡܰܥ ܐܳܦ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ ܒܩܳܠܳܐ ܕܐܰܡܬ̣ܳܟ݂ ܘܐܷܣܝܼܡ ܩܕ݂ܳܡܰܝܟ ܩܰܨܝܳܐ ܕܠܰܚܡܳܐ ܘܐܰܟ݂ܘܿܠ ܘܢܷܗܘܷܐ ܒܳܟ݂ ܚܰܝܠܳܐ ܡܷܛܠ ܕܐܳܙܷܠ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ ܒܐܘܼܪܚܳܐ. בג ܘܠܳܐ ܨܒ̣ܳܐ ܘܐܷܡܰܪ ܠܳܗ̇ ܠܳܐ ܐܳܟܷܠ ܐ̱ܢܳܐ. ܘܰܒ̣ܥܳܘ ܡܷܢܷܗ ܥܰܒ̣ܕܳܘ̈ܗܝ ܘܐܳܦ ܐܰܢ̱ܬ̇ܬ̣ܳܐ ܘܰܫܡܰܥ ܒܩܳܠܗܘܿܢ ܘܩܳܡ ܡ̣ܢ ܐܰܪܥܳܐ ܘܝܼܬܷܒ̣ ܥܰܠ ܥܰܪܣܳܐ. בד ܘܠܰܐܢ̱ܬ̇ܬ̣ܳܐ ܥܷܓ̣ܠܳܐ ܡܪܰܒܰܝ ܗ̱ܘ̣ܳܐ ܠܳܗ̇ ܒܒܰܝܬܳܗ̇ ܘܐܷܣܬܰܪ̱ܗܒܰܬ̤ ܢܟܰܣܬܷܗ. ܘܢܷܣܒܰܬ̤ ܩܰܡܚܳܐ ܠܳܫܰܬ̤ ܘܐܰܦܳܬ̤ ܦܰܛܝܼܪܳܐ. בה ܘܩܰܪܒܰܬ̤ ܩܕ݂ܳܡ ܫܳܐܘܿܠ ܘܰܩܕ݂ܳܡ ܥܰܒ̣ܕܳܘ̈ܗܝ ܘܰܠܥܷܣܘ ܘܩܳܡܘ ܗܰܠܷܟ݂ܘ ܒܠܷܠܝܳܐ ܗܳܘ̇.
